Spring Blooms At AMU Flower Show

Aligarh, March 12 (TNA) Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) community on Saturday welcomed the spring season with dazzling blooms and stunning floral landscapes taking root in fabulous fragrances and a kaleidoscope of colours as the Gulistan-e-Syed Garden played host to the Annual Flower Show-2022 of the university.

The two-day Flower Show was inaugurated by the AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor with a brilliant display of horticultural mastery under seven different categories.

“The Class A has 73 entries by university, institutional and private gardens and there are overall 373 flowering annuals in pot arrangements in the Class B. A total of 72 Cut Flowers (Roses) are placed in the Class C and 134 Cut Flowers (Annuals) in Class CA, while 71 ornamentals are displayed in Class D.

The Class E has 40 on the spot flower arrangements in vases and bowls and 145 Succulents, Cacti, Euphorbias, Poinsettias, Bougainvilleas and Bonsai are put on view in Class E. There are 908 entries of flowers in total”, said Prof Zaki Anwar Siddiqui (Member in Charge, Department of Land and Gardens).

Dr Tariq Aftab (Associate Member in Charge, Department of Land and Gardens) informed: “The Vice Chancellor Lodge, Pro Vice Chancellor Lodge, Registrar Lodge, Admin Block, Rajiv Gandhi Centre For Diabetes And Endocrinology, VG Nursery, SS Hall Mosque, Gulistan-e-Syed, Guest House No. 1, 2 and 3, Z H College of Engineering and Technology, Kennedy Hall, Department of Electrical Engineering, Maulana Azad Library, V M Hall, M M Hall, I G Hall, Begum Aziz-un-Nisa Hall, Al-Hamd Agrifood, Al-Barkaat Public School, RAF 104 and five private gardens are the participants”.

The event will conclude with distribution of prizes by IAS Officer, Mr Gaurav Dayal (Commissioner, Aligarh) and Prof M Mohsin Khan (Finance Officer) at 3: 30 pm on March 13.
