STF Arrests Six Drug Smugglers In Greater Noida, Opium Worth Rs 1.25 crores Seized

Greater Noida, Sep 25 (TNA) Six persons accused of smuggling opium on a large scale in Noida-NCR were arrested by the Noida unit of the Special Task Force (STF) of the UP Police on Friday evening, an official said on Saturday.

Police said that the leader of the smuggling gang is still absconding. The value of the seized ganja is about Rs.1.25 crore in the international market. Police are looking for other smugglers who are absconding.

UP STF had received information that some vicious ganja smugglers are coming to Surajpur in Greater Noida with huge consignments from Lucknow to supply ganja in West UP, Noida-Greater Noida and Delhi NCR.

Acting on this tip-off, the police on Friday evening at around 6 pm stopped a pick-up vehicle on NTPC Pushta Road in Kotwali Surajpur area. The arrested accused have been identified as Firoz Khan resident of Ghaziabad, Amit, Sachin and Sonu resident of Sonipat Haryana, Jitendra Kumar and Mahesh resident of district Banda.

One vehicle Mahindra pickup, one car Swift DZire, three mobile phones, three Aadhaar cards and one driving license have also been recovered from the arrested accused.
