Lucknow, June 7 (TNA) Former UP minister Swami Prasad Maurya will file his nomination papers for the Legislative Council elections as a Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate today. Maurya had left the BJP and joined the SP before the assembly elections.

The second SP candidate is -former MLA Sobran Singh from Karhal. The SP has 111 and the ally has 14 MLAs. In such a situation, the SP can send four people to the Legislative Council.

On Monday, two names were discussed by the party high command and many leaders were called to the state office for the other two. But party president Akhilesh Yadav attended the joint session of the legislature, so he could not meet any of his leaders.
