Thieves Decamp With Rs 25 Lakh From Police Station In Agra, Six Cops Suspended
Agra, Oct 17 (TNA) In an embarrassing incident for the Uttar Pradesh, robbers struck at a police station in Agra and decamped with Rs 25 lakh. Following the incident at the Jagdishpura ‘Malkhana’, six policemen, including the inspector incharge have been suspended.
Officers reached the spot after getting information and a forensic team has collected evidence. According to information available, the clerk of Malkhana had gone to drink tea on Sunday morning. When he returned, the goods in the warehouse were in disarray. He informed this to the higher officials.
On receiving the information, there was panic in the police station. SSP Muniraj ji and SP City Vikas Kumar reached the spot. The SSP says that the police station has two gates, one being on the way to Bodla-Lohamandi. It is being suspected that the thief came in through that door and entered inside by breaking the grille of the warehouse.
Inspector Anoop Kumar Tiwari, in-charge of police station Jagdishpura, night officer, in-charge of mall station and three constables on duty at night have been suspended. CCTV footage from neighbouring areas are being checked.
