Lalitpur, July 27 (TNA) A young woman was subjected to inhuman treatment by miscreants in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh after she confronted them for passing lewd comments. The miscreants took her hostage, beat her up and burnt her eyes and eyebrow with a hot knife.

They warned her not to petition the police or else they would kill her the next time, her family has alleged. But three days after the incident as she battles wounds, the police is yet to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.

The woman has been admitted at the district hospital and her condition is stated to be serious. The victims family has also alleged that the police was not listening to their pleas. Instead of taking action against the accused, the police are supporting them, they told reporters.

The victim said she was fed up with frequent harassment and she thrashed them with slippers after which they attacked her. She is from Dhamna village and was dragged to a nearby school where the culprits heated a knife with a lighter and burnt her eyes and eye brows.

ASP Girijesh Kumar says an FIR has been lodged under relevant sections of the IPC and efforts were on to arrest the culprits who are on the run.
