Three Die After Consuming Spurious Liquor In Lucknow's Banthara

Lucknow, Nov 13 (TNA) Three persons have died and one is critical after consuming illicit liquor in the state capital of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Friday. The mishap comes at the time of Diwali and specially when only recently the state's excise department had claimed that it had cracks down on spurious liquor in a big way.

The tragedy took place in Rasoolpur Lateef Nagar village. The victims have been identified as Mohd Anees, Raj Kumar and Sunder Lal. Preliminary reports suggest that the liquor had been purchased from a government licensed liquor vend. The police has since arrested the main man on the vend and a salesman. A probe is underway, an official said.
