Lucknow, November 14 (TNA) Three units of NTPC have been closed in Rae Bareli. Those responsible have said that the demand for electricity has reduced. The electricity generated here is sent to the states of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir.

Units A, II and V of the NTPC project were shut down, resulting in a reduction of 630 MW power generation in the project. Those responsible for the project have said that the unit will be closed due to low demand for electricity.

In the NTPC project, a total of 1550 MW electricity is produced including 210 MW each from units number one, two, three, four and five and 500 MW from the sixth unit. The electricity generated in the project is sent to the states of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir.

Project Public Relations Officer Komal Sharma said that due to low demand for electricity, the units have been closed on the instructions of the Northern Region Load Despatch Centre. On the other hand, local sources say that the units have been closed due to lack of water but the project officials have denied this.
