Top UP Police Officials Brief CM Yogi On Progress Made In Umesh Pal Killing
Lucknow, February 26 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath was briefed by top police officials late Saturday night on the progress made in the daylight killing of lawyer Umesh Pal and his police gunner in Prayagraj on Friday.
DGP Devendra Singh Chauhan, ADG (Law & order) Prashant Kumar and Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad were huddled at the 5, Kalidas Marg residence of the chief minister where progress made in the high-profile case was discussed and the saffron-robed chief minister was apprised of the leads and the action taken so far.
Yogi had on Saturday told the MLA’s in Vidhan Sabha that there should be no doubt in anyones mind that that the guilty will be spared. “I reiterate that this mafia behind the killing of the prime witness in a murder case of a former MLA will be dealth with the zero-tolerance of the state government and run to the ground”.
“Mitti mein mila diye jayenge aise mafia aur apradhi” the chief minister roared as treasury benches thumped tables and clapped. He had also accused the opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) of harbouring and patronizing criminals and mafia and then enacting in the House of being concerned about law and order.
According to information, STF chief Amitabh Yash has already reached Prayagraj, to take forward the ongoing investigation in the Umesh Pal murder, which has sent shock waves across the state and the country in the manner the shootout took place in broad daylight in a busy thoroughfare.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Police has identified the killers based on CCTV footage scanned by sleuths from cameras installed in neighbouring areas and adjoining shops. An official on condition of anonymity said one of the killers was Mohd Asad Ahmad, son of jailed mafia don Atiq Ahmad.
Others have been identified as Arman, resident of Civil Lines and Guddu Muslim who lives in Rajroopur, Dhumanganj. With the chief minister seething anger at the manner in which the criminals bumped of Umesh Pal and also killed a police security personnel, an official privy to the developments thereafter said, had “in a way signalled the end of the mafia” in the state and that the police and STF were now going all out to hound the perpetrators of the henious crime.
“The guilty will be brought to justice soon and no one will be spared, the CM has made it clear that the government has zero tolerance for crime and criminals and the message has gone down clear with the entire police force” a retired police official told TNA.
