Two Former Uttar Pradesh Ministers Chargesheeted In The Multi-Crore Memorial Scam
Lucknow, Sep 7 (TNA) In fresh trouble for two former ministers of Uttar Pradesh - Babu Singh Kushwaha and Naseem-ud-din Siddiqui, the state vigilance department has filed a chargesheet against them in the multi-crore memorial scam. A total of 57 people have been named in the chargesheet.
The charge sheet was filed in the special MP MLA Court on Monday after investigation in the scam said to be to the tune of around Rs 1400 crore, missed and bungled in the construction of monuments and parks built in Lucknow and Noida during the BSP regime.
Other than these two former ministers, 23 officers of Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (UPRNN) and 34 others have also been made accused. Special Judge Pawan Kumar Rai has fixed September 15 for hearing on this.
Charge sheets have been filed against 18 people earlier, which includes former IAS and the then Director Mineral Ram Bodh Maurya, then MD of Rajkiya Nirman Nigam CP Singh, Joint Director Mineral Suhail Ahmed Farooqui, then GM of UPRNN, Project Manager and many engineers. Till now chargesheet has been filed against 75.
Babu Singh Kushwaha was the Minister of Geology and Mining Department in the BSP government while Naseem-ud-din Siddiqui was the Minister of the Public Works Department (PWD). While Kushwaha was jailed and has floated his own political outfit, Siddiqui is now with the Congress. Recently, both of them were questioned by the Vigilance sleuths.
The Vigilance department is also waiting for sanction of prosecution against 6 people including former VC LDA. After getting sanction for prosecution, charge sheet will be filed against these people also, an official informed The News Agency.
