Unaccounted Gutka Worth Rs 20 Crores Seized In Prayagraj, Was On Way To Tripura

Prayagraj, March 31 (TNA) Gutkha, unaccounted for in the books, worth Rs 20 crore was seized by the Central GST team in Prayagraj on Thursday. The consignment was stuffed in card board boxes aboard seven trucks and was being taken to Tripura.

An estimated tax evasion of more than Rs four crores is said to be behind this transport. The trucks were caught on the Fatehpur-Kaushambi district border.

When the officials questioned the drivers again on Thursday morning, it was found that the gutkha was to be taken from Kanpur to Tripura. The person who loaded the goods had given four mobile numbers and was to contact on these numbers before reaching Tripura. The officials called on the mobile numbers, but found all of them switched off.
