UP Government Okays Fees Hike In Private Schools, Parents Burdened

Lucknow, April 10 (TNA) In news that is certain to increase the tension of parents across the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has okayed a proposal to increase fees in private schools. As a result fees of private schools in UP will increase by more than 10 percent. Due to Corona, the ban imposed on the fee hike of private schools has now been lifted, an official said.

In the last two academic sessions, the year 2020-21 and the year 2021-22, the fees was not increased due to Covid.

Additional Chief Secretary, Secondary Education, Aradhana Shukla has issued orders for fee hike. The schools have been instructed to consider the latest consumer price index for fee hike in the academic session 2022-23 as the basis and add it by increasing the fees for the year 2019-2020 by a maximum of five percent.

Under Section-4(2) of the Uttar Pradesh Self-financed Independent Schools (Fee Regulations) Act 2018, this prescribed formula for fee hike will have to be strictly followed. Action will be taken if any school increases the fees more. Anil Agarwal, president of Unaided Private School Association, UP has thanked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for lifting the ban on fee hike due to Kovid on January 7, 2022.
