UP Government Proposes Inauguration Of Nine New Medical Colleges By PM Modi This Month

Lucknow, July 3 (TNA) With construction and other work at the nine new medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh almost complete, the state government has proposed that these be inaugurated by prime minister Narendra Modi sometime in July, an official said on Saturday.

"The work of setting up nine new medical colleges in the state is almost complete and it is proposed that these be inaugurated at the hands of the Prime Minister this month" he added.

The inauguration of 9 medical colleges simultaneously will be an unprecedented opportunity in the history of the state, it was further claimed. The process of appointment of more than 450 faculty members is going on in these colleges.

The number of MBBS seats which is currently at 2928 will go up to 3828 now. In private medical colleges, the number of MBBS seats in UPs stand at 4159.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed concerned officials to ensure that faculty selection should be done with fairness and transparency. Good teachers should be selected on the basis of merit, he added. Principals in all these medical colleges have already been appointed.

New medical colleges are coming up at Etah, Hardoi, Siddharthnagar, Deoria, Ghazipur, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Jaunpur and Mirzapur. With this even the number of MBBS seats will increase by 900 in the state.
