UP Bureaucrat Suhas LY Becomes Para-Badminton World Champion
Lucknow, February 26 (TNA) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanathhas hailed the victory of senior UP cadre bureaucrat Suhas LY at the Para-badminton world championship where he emerged at the top. He wrote on X: your victory in the final is a great example of dedication and excellence. Everyone is proud of you.
IAS Suhas LY is Secretary of the Sports Department in the Uttar Pradesh Government and has again shown his magic in Para-Badminton. Along with winning the gold medal in the BWF World Championship in Pattaya, Thailand, he has achieved the distinction of being the world champion.
He defeated world number 2 seed Freddy Setiawan 21-18,21-18 in MS SL4. Suhas Yathiraj is the first IAS officer to win the most gold medals in the Para Games in the bureaucracy of the country. Earlier too, he has brought glory to India in the world of sports across the world. Suhas LY is a 2007 batch IAS officer in the Uttar Pradesh cadre.
Originally from the Shimoga district of Karnataka. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh government sent Suhas LY as the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar on 3 March 2020. Suhas LY has been the District Magistrate of Maharajganj, Sonbhadra, Hathras, Prayagraj, Jaunpur and Azamgarh. In February 2023, he was appointed Secretary of the Sports Department.
