UP In Grip Of Unprecedented Heat Wave, Agra Hottest In Country With 46.9 Degrees Celsius
Lucknow, May 18 (TNA) With every passing day, the heat wave in Uttar Pradesh is creating a new record in Uttar Pradesh. On Friday, Agra was the hottest in the country as the mercury touched 46.9 degrees celsius. The weather will remain like this till 21st May, the Met office has predicted.
Mathura-Vrindavan, Baghpat, Jhansi, Gorakhpur, and Bahraich too remained in the grip of the heat wave. According to Atul Kumar Singh, senior meteorologist of the Zonal Meteorological Center, the heat will increase further. Strong hot and dry winds may continue to cause distress till May 21. The wind speed can range from 25 to 35 km per hour during this period.
Although there may be light showers with thunderstorms at isolated places in eastern Uttar Pradesh on May 21, but this will not provide respite from the heat. A Yellow alert has been issued regarding this. The weather department has issued an orange alert regarding the heat wave effect that may increase further on May 20 and 21.
Mercury in Barmer, Rajasthan was 46.5 degrees, Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh was the hottest with 44.9 degrees. The maximum temperature in Ayanagar in Haryana-Chandigarh and Delhi was 46.2 degrees Celsius. The temperature was recorded at 44.4 degrees Celsius in Patiala, Punjab.
