Lucknow, December 27 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) in association with ‘GOONJ’ – a voluntary not-for-profit organization that is engaged in disaster relief, humanitarian aid and community building, will organize a warm clothes collection drive titled ‘Odha Do Zindagi’ at Munshi Pulia Metro Station and Krishna Nagar Metro Station from December 29 to December 31.

The timings will be between 6 A.M. to 10 P.M. (29th and 30th December 2020), and from 6 A.M. till 12 Noon on 31st December 2020, officials said. UPMRC has carried out a similar collection drive with GOONJ titled ‘Daan Utsav’ at the Krishna Nagar Metro Station in October last year as well, which received an overwhelming response from the people of Lucknow.

This year, with the cold winds sweeping the city and temperatures dropping at every passing day, Uttar Pradesh Metro has come forward to extend a helping hand to those in need, in association with GOONJ. UPMRC will contribute towards the collection, storage, manpower, logistics and transportation support for the collection drive. The collected clothes will then be distributed by Goonj to those in need.

UPMRC’s association with such drives is another step towards being a socially responsible organisation. Ever since its inception, UPMRC has always initiated and undertaken such causes which benefit the society at large. We have offered all our support to this cause as well. I urge the people of Lucknow to contribute to this drive generously and bring comfort to someone less fortunate” said Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation.

The drop boxes for the warm clothes collection will be kept at Munshi Pulia Metro Station and Krishna Nagar Metro Station and people can drop the clothes in the drop box without any human contact.

There is ample parking space available at both the metro stations for people with vehicles to come and donate their clothes conveniently.

UPMRC urges the people of Lucknow to come together for ‘Odha do Zindagi’ and help the needy in fighting this biting cold. People are requested to donate as many clothes as they can, provided they are not dirty and torn.
