Lucknow, January 12 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has urged people of Lucknow to avoid flying kites near Metro corridor. In this awareness drive, staff of UPMRC is highlighting the cons of kite flying which has led to disruption of passenger services on various incidents.
UPMRC continuously conducts awareness drive about the harmful effects of kite flying near metro corridor from ‘CCS Airport to Munshipulia’. Recently UPMRC conducted an awareness drive appealing public not to use ‘Chinese manjha’ or metallic thread for kite flying.
On the upcoming occasion of Makar Sakranti, UPMRC has again urged people of Lucknow to avoid flying kites near Metro corridor. In this awareness drive, staff of UPMRC is highlighting the cons of kite flying which has led to disruption of passenger services on various incidents.
Chinese manjha being a good conductor of electricity often causes short circuit which can prove to be fatal for the kite flyer. It has not only led to incidents of electrocution of the person but also poses a threat to metro property causing severe damage.
These types of metallic threads upon entanglement cause tripping which damages Overhead Electrification (OHE). This not only leads to interruption of metro services due to which metro commuters face a lot of inconvenience but also has caused severe injuries to the kite flyer.
It should be known that in the last 3 years, due to Chinese manjha, 508 such cases have been registered by the Uttar Pradesh Metro whose police complaints have been filed so that disciplinary action can be taken.
UPMRC appeals the public to cooperate in this campaign of halting the usage of Chinese thread or copper wire while flying kites near the metro corridor. It also requests that as a responsible citizen, people should abstain themselves from flying kites near the metro corridor.
