Veteran Hindi Journalist Gyanendra Sharma Passes Away
Lucknow, March 27 (TNA) Veteran Hindi journalist and former information commissioner Gyanendra Sharma passed away on Wednesday at the age of 80, close associates informed. He had been unwell for some time and was undergoing treatment at the Chandan hospita at Faizabad road in the state capital.
His demise sent a wave of mourning across the entire journalism world in the state as he had been a guide and mentor to many senior scribes of the state. Sharma was a native of Jhansi and had made Lucknow his “karmabhoomi” in the mid-seventies.
After being the bureau chief of Samachar Bharti here, he worked on high posts in Navbharat Times and Dainik Jagran. One of his sons is currently abroad. The last rites according to informed sources are likely to be held on Thursday.
