Video Of IPS Officer In UP Seeking Bribe Of Rs 20 Lakh Goes Viral, Probe Ordered

Lucknow, March 13 (TNA) A video of IPS officer Anirudh Kumar demanding a bribe of Rs 20 lakh to save a school sweeper from a rape case during his posting in Varanasi went viral on social media on Sunday. Anirudh has got a clean chit in this case. However, the government has said that how the clean chit was received would now be investigated.

DGP DS Chauhan has asked the Varanasi Commissionerate to investigate and report within three days on the viral video and the tenancy dispute of his wife Aarti Singh.

The 2018 batch IPS officer Anirudh Kumar, who is being claimed to be demanding bribe in the video, is currently posted as ASP Rural in Meerut. Responding to the viral video, the Meerut police wrote that the video is more than two years old. It is not related to Meerut. The investigation in connection with the case has already been completed.

Two years ago, after this matter came to the notice of the DGP Headquarters, a confidential inquiry was conducted. After getting a clean chit in the investigation, he was also given a promotion. Anirudh's IPS wife Aarti Singh is posted as DCP Varuna Zone in Varanasi Commissionerate.

A tweet has been received about him, in which he has been accused of not paying the rent of the flat to his landlord. On the other hand, according to Aarti Singh, she has paid the rent to her landlord. The DGP has also sought a report from the Varanasi Commissionerate in this matter.
