Viral Fever Surges In Lucknow: Two Dead, Government Hospitals Crammed
Lucknow, Oct 4 (TNA) Two persons, including a seven-year-old perished in the state capital of Uttar Pradesh in the last 24-hours as cases of viral fever and dengue spike. According to information available, Vishal (28) died in Preeti Vihar and a seven-year-old died at KGMU. Seven new cases of dengue have been reported as well.
The chief medical officer (CMO) has constituted a team of doctors to review the situation in Faizullaganj where a large number of fever related cases have been reported in the past ten days, Blood sampling is being done extensively to find out what is causing fever, an official told TNA.
Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak who also holds the health department portfolio reviewed the situation with top officials and directed them to ensure prompt and proper treatment to patients suffering from fever. There is however a huge shortage of beds in the three major hospitals of the state capital.
Sources said that beds in Balrampur hospital, Lokbandhu and Civil hospital have reported paucity of beds and emergency services. Of the total 8788 patients registered in these three hospitals in the past three days, only 1217 were admitted. More than a hundred seriously ill patients, suffering from fever and other symptoms were referred to Lohia Institute and PGI.
