'Virtual Meeting' With Top UPSIDA Official Gives Wings To Revival Dreams Of Sahibabad Industrial Area

Ghaziabad, August 13 (TNA) After seeing enormous growth from 2002 to 2016, the most prestigious Industrial Area of UP - Site-IV Sahibabad Industrial Area (part of NCR) is itching to soar again and contribute to the industrial growth of the state with unlimited potential.

The area has been stagnant for almost five years now, an industrialist told TNA but added that with "some positive activity" by the state government, it was "hopeful of a revival that never before".

The insider further informed that this Industrial area was formed almost five decades ago and as a result, many large industries from Delhi had shifted base here. Over the years, many prospered, many survived but sadly many got sick.

However, from 2002 onwards many sick industries sub-divided their plots and gave an opportunity for MSME to establish their units on small divided plots.

Major people who shifted here from Delhi were working in unauthorised industrial area and were facing closure notice. In little over one decade about 20 sick/locked units, made way to almost 700 units, which resulted in enormous industrial activity and growth in the area.

However, since the BJP Govt. came to power there where many more who wanted to sub-divide their plot and move on. But unfortunately the policy of 2018, though it was favourable for growth, nothing much happened. This was mainly because UPSIDA was not approving any plans since they where working on a new policy which they felt was much more favourable to growth than the 2018 policy.

However, the new policy of 2020 was completely the opposite. It left the industrialist shocked. As a result there was not a single industrialist who moved forward their application for sub-plotting.

Pandemic has literally eroded years of hard work done by many industries. Many of them are facing crisis for survival. Many of the industrialist along with Sahibabad Industries Association (Regd.) has been regularly requesting for review & change in the sub division of Industrial Land policy which is pro-active and progressive.

With pollution norms being stringent in NCR, the real need of the hour is to get as many small industries to function here. Because of its close proximity to Delhi, it has potential to be the finest industrial area in NCR. Once a favourable policy is made, it will unlock the unutilized land and duly promote industrialisation.

This could be the big boon to the MSME sector many have been waiting for. They finally got a zoom meeting with Arvind Kumar (Additional Chief Secretary, Infrastructure & Industrial Development, UP & Chairman, UPSIDA) and other senior officers of UPSIDA.The association and some of the industrialist put across all the points and the same where duly noted by the bureaucrat and his subordinates.

There are more than 30 sick units which are currently running under capacity or locked. there is a potential for more than 800 units that can come up on this land. This can create enormous economic & growth activity in the area. This will also lead to much needed employment in the private sector. This has the potential to duly promote the vision of our Honourable Prime Minister & our Honourable Chief Minister “Make in India”. There is a hope that Sahibabad Industrial Area can get wings to fly again.
