European Investment Bank’s Team Assures Of Cooperation In Funding Of Gorakhpur Metro Rail, Lucknow’s East-West Corridor

Lucknow, April 13 (TNA) The review visit of a 7-member team of European Investment Bank to Agra, Kanpur and Lucknow metro rail projects from 9-13 April concluded on Wednesday. Under this review tour, the delegation first reached Agra on April 9 on a three-day visit. The delegates reviewed the fast progressing construction works in Agra.

Under the first corridor in Agra, construction is going on at a brisk pace on the 6 km long primary corridor from Taj East Gate to Jama Masjid. The team also visited the Agra Depot at PAC and appreciated the UP Metro Rail Corporation for the construction works. The team was accompanied by Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, UPMRC and Director.

After Agra, the EIB team arrived on April 12 to review the Kanpur Metro Rail project. The EIB team witnessed the operation of Metro train in the 9 km long primary corridor constructed between IIT to Motijheel in Kanpur. They praised the UP Metro team for running the metro in Kanpur in a short span of two years and a half months and also said that the timely high quality construction is commendable in itself despite two severe waves of Covid.

The EIB team also took stock of the construction work of underground metro construction under the first corridor. The EIB team also took stock of the train operation from the Metro Depot located at Gurudev Chauraha.

In the next phase today EIB team led by Katrin Bock reached Lucknow. He traveled in the morning from CCS Airport Metro Station to Hazratganj in the train and also got to know his reaction from the general passengers.

During this, the Managing Director and officers of UPMRC were also present. After this a seven member team of EIB led by Katherine Bob along with Managing Director Kumar Keshav also met Durga Shankar Mishra, Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh. The EIB discussed in the meeting the funding of the Gorakhpur Metro Rail Project along with the East West Corridor of Lucknow Metro.

This was followed by a meeting of EIB officers with Keshav at the office of UP Metro. where he said that the cooperation of the funding agency EIB is extremely important for metro projects. He said that UPMRC has completed Lucknow and Kanpur metro projects in a time bound manner and Agra project is also progressing at a fast pace. He thanked the EIB for its cooperation and said that the EIB has shown a positive attitude in the upcoming projects.
