Lucknow, March 12 (TNA) A hardened criminal was injured in a police encounter in Gudamba area of the state capital late on Friday night. He is the prime accused in a robbery at a jewellery shop, an official informed while adding that Police have recovered a bike, pistol and cartridges from the accused. DCP North had also placed a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head.

According to ADCP North Prachi Singh, on Friday late night, Gudamba in-charge Inspector Satish Chandra Sahu and the crime team of North Zone were checking vehicles in Bhakmau area. During this, a suspicious youth was seen coming on a bike. When they tried to stop him he tried to escape.

When the police chased, the bike slipped and fell after which the criminal opened fire on the police. When the police retaliated, a bullet hit Monu Pandit, a resident of Anantram Sonali village of Ajitmal, Auraiya and he surrendered thereafter. He had made a hideout in Kanshi Ram Colony of Unnao.
