Work On Kanpur’s New Airport Building Likely To Be Completed By March 15

Kanpur, February 27 (TNA) Divisional Commissioner of Kanpur. Raj Shekhar on Monday inspected the ongoing work at the new Airport terminal building” at Chakeri, which is one of the priority projects of both the Government of India and UP Government.

During his visit, the bureaucrat reviewed its work progress and directed officials to ensure its early completion and proper functioning. He was accompanied by ADM LA, Chief Engineer PWD, CE Nagar Nigam, GM AAI, Director Kanpur Airport, PM Rajakiya Nirman Nigam, Chief Fire officer, RM UP pollution control board and others concerned officials.

At first the Commissioner visited the new connecting road for the New Terminal building, construction work of which is 90% complete and the rest is likely to be completed by March 5). Work of installing street lights would be completed by March 15, an official informed.

To make the Entry point look green & welcoming, the Commissioner asked PWD to prepare project for landscaping of median of the road, raised footpath on both sides, tree plantation on both sides of road and barbed wire fencing on both sides of the road to prevent any encroachment. This work would be taken up by KDA under the Avastahapana Suvidha in coming days.

The construction Work of the new terminal building is almost complete and a few additional requirements as per the directions of BCAS (Bureau of Civil Aviation Security) are being carried out which are likely to be completed in next two weeks.

Director Airport apprised the commissioner that two visits of BCAS have been completed. The next and the final visit is scheduled in first week of March for final clearance.

The Chief Fire officer has assured to examine and to issue final fire NOC in next one week while the regional manager of UP Pollution Control Board told commissioner that the Airport Authority of india (AAI) has to apply for NOC. Once they apply for NOC, the clearance will take two weeks of time.

Raj Shekhar also asked director AAI to apply for NOC right away and to get the NOC by March 10 through by daily monitoring and follow up. The Commissioner also asked about the proposal to be sent to AAI Head Quarter for installation of two Aero Bridges at the new terminal building to which he was informed that the proposal has already been sent to Delhi for further necessary action at the HQ level.

Commissioner asked the director and GM to follow it up on regular basis and to get it sanctioned as soon as possible. After reviewing all the above, he expressed hope that the new Airport terminal building would be fully ready by March.

Commissioner’s next visit is scheduled on March 16. “There after any time it can be inaugurated and dedicated to public which would be decided soon by Airport Authority of India in consultation with the State Government” the top official stated.
