Yogi Cabinet Clears Proposals For Purchase Of 40 Lakh Smartphones-Tablets, Path Cleared For Film City In Noida

Lucknow, March 6 (TNA) The Uttar Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday gave a green signal to many big-ticket proposals. These include ten decisions ranging from the construction of Film City to a one-time settlement scheme in the Excise Department. The proposal to equip the youth with smartphones and tablets was ratified by the Cabinet. The proposal to issue purchase orders to the institutions selected for free tablet distribution under the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme has been approved.

Under the scheme, 40 lakh tablets and smartphones will be given to the youth. Of these, 25 lakh are smartphones and 15 lakh are tablets. Under this scheme made for five years, 40 lakh smartphones and tablets will be purchased this year and next year. A budget of Rs 4000 crore has been made for this. Last year, a budget of Rs 3600 crore was kept for this item. The state government had started Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme. Under this, the government will provide free smartphones and tablets to the students of undergraduate, postgraduate, technical, diploma, skill development, paramedical nursing etc. for the next five years.

The Cabinet has approved the Excise Department to introduce the One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS Scheme) to recover its outstanding amount. Excise Minister Nitin Aggarwal said that under this, a 50 per cent rebate in interest will be given if the defaulters pay the entire amount. Let us tell you that the Excise Department has outstanding of about Rs 43 crore since the year 1956. These include many retail traders who have not paid the dues of the department. Now efforts will be made to recover these dues through the OTS scheme.

The Cabinet has approved the proposal to issue a corrigendum to the Bottling of Foreign Liquor (Twenty-fourth Amendment) Rules, 2020. It was published in the Gazette on October 1 instead of April 1, the correction of which has been approved by the Cabinet.

After the approval of the Cabinet, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority will give a Letter of Award to the company. More than 30 films can be shot simultaneously in this film city. For this, sets related to major locations of the state and country and foreign countries will be prepared.

Paving the way for International Film City in UP

The way has been cleared to develop Film City on one thousand acres of land in Yamuna Development Authority. The Cabinet has approved the proposal regarding developer selection. Boney Kapoor's company will develop it. The first phase of International Film City will be developed on 230 acres of land.

Last year the government had asked to initiate action in this regard. The project is being undertaken by Super Sonic Techn Build Pvt Ltd (Maddock Films Cape, Off Good Films LLP and others), M/s Bayview Projects LLP Boney Kapoor and others, M/s Super Cassettes Industries Pvt Ltd (T-Series) and Lions Films Pvt Ltd KC Bokadia had bid. Boney Kapoor's Bayview projects were finalized as the highest bidder
