Yogi Calls For Crackdown On Drug Mafia, Office Of Narcotics Control Bureau To Come Up In Gorakhpur
Lucknow, May 17 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called for stepping up of vigil on the inter-state and international borders against the drug peddling menace. Along with the Home Department, the Uban Development and Rural Development Department will also have to cooperate in this campaign, he said at a high-level meeting. “It is necessary to hear NDPS cases in fast track courts, so that criminals are punished soon” the CM added.
The Central Government has decided to set up the new Zonal Headquarters of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at Gorakhpur. The state government will provide necessary land and resources for the headquarters building. This information was given in the NCORD State Level Committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday. Central and state government officials participated in the meeting.
The Chief Minister said in the meeting that drug trafficking is the problem of every state. All the forces associated with enforcement should unite and work in this direction. We have to make multipronged efforts to investigate the source of drugs, end its network, arrest the culprits and rehabilitate drug addicts. The campaign against illegal manufacture, purchase and sale of drugs in the state will have to be intensified. Whoever is found involved in this, strictest action should be taken against them including attachment. Also, vigilance and intelligence will have to be further improved in sensitive districts.
Vigilance should be increased on the interstate and international borders. Along with the Home Department, the Urban Development and Rural Development Department will also have to cooperate in this campaign. It is necessary to hear NDPS cases in fast track courts, so that criminals are punished quickly. Action should be taken from the government level to set up special courts in the districts with maximum pending cases. The police stations of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force should also be made functional in Jhansi, Saharanpur and Ghazipur.
Proper use should be made of Encord portal and Nidan platform of Government of India for effective action against drug trafficking. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force should be further strengthened so that decisive action can be taken in the fight against drugs.
District-level and state-level ENCORD meetings should be held at regular intervals as per the intention of the Government of India. Are. This meeting should be held every month in each case. There is information of delay in the meeting in some districts. These districts will be reviewed by Principal Secretary Home and Special DG Law and Order.
