Young Man Throws Shoe On SP Leader Swami Prasad Maurya, Handed Over To Police
Lucknow, August 21 (TNA) A young man threw a shoe on Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya during a function in the state capital on Monday. The incident happened at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Gomtinagar at a OBC function where Maurya was present.
The youth, identified as Akash Saini had come dressed at a lawyer. Supporters of Maurya, initially taken aback by the sudden act later thrashed the youngster and handed him over to the police who took him in custody.
The former UP minister who owes his rise in political circles to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) had ditched Mayawati and hitched the BJP bandwagon in the run up to the 2017 state assembly polls.
He then switched sides and joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) just before the 2022 assembly polls in which BJP later returned to power. He has been known for his controversial remarks be it on the Ramayana or Badrinath shrine which he recently claimed was a Buddhist Mutt.
