KABUL || In sad news for cricket lovers, opening batsman of the Afghanist cricket team, Najib Tarkai passed away on Tuesday. He had been hit by a speeding car on October 2 and had since been at a medical facility in a critical condition. The 29-year-old Afghan opener was in Coma after sustaining serious head injury.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has mourned the demise of Najib Tarakai. The board wrote on Twitter, 'ACB and cricket-loving country Afghanistan have lost their aggressive opening batsman and very good man Najeeb Tarakai (29). He died in a tragic road accident. We are all shocked! May Allah bless him. "

Tarakai made his T20 debut against Bangladesh in the 2014 International Cup for Afghanistan. He played 12 T20s and one ODI for the country. Najeeb scored 90 in the T20 against Ireland at Greater Noida and this was his best score. He scored five runs in the only ODI.
