Beijing, August 20 (TNA) China has launched joint air and sea patrols and military drills around Taiwan as a "stern warning" to those advocating for Taiwan's independence. This move is in response to Taiwan Vice President William Lai's recent stopover in the US.

The patrols and exercises aim to enhance coordination among military vessels and aircraft, testing combat capabilities. Taiwan's Defense Ministry condemned China's drills, calling them irrational and provocative. They pledge to respond in accordance with emergency regulations to defend their sovereignty. Taiwan criticized China for disrupting regional security by sending aircraft and ships to harass the island.

The Ministry of National Defense emphasized readiness to defend against Communist army advances and protect national security. Taiwan urged its citizens to unite and build a strong defense force. Earlier, China denounced Lai's US visit and urged the US to adhere to the one-China principle, while warning against official interaction with Taiwan. China vowed to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
