Moscow, August 24 (TNA) In a shocking turn of events, Yevgeny Prigozhin, notorious for his involvement in the failed coup against President Vladimir Putin in June, is believed to have met an uncertain fate. A plane traveling from Moscow to St Petersburg crashed, claiming the lives of all 10 individuals on board, including three crew members.

The Russian emergency ministry confirmed the fatalities, while officials revealed that a passenger with Prigozhin’s name was among the victims.

Reports suggest the aircraft might have belonged to Prigozhin himself, who is known as the founder of the Wagner private military company. Although he was listed as a passenger, it remains unclear if he had boarded the ill-fated flight. Russia’s aviation regulator, Rosaviatsia, has initiated an investigation into the crash.

Unverified sources indicate that a Wagner-linked Telegram channel, Grey Zone, speculated the possibility of the aircraft being downed by air defenses in the Tver region, located north of Moscow. Yevgeny Prigozhin's private military force, Wagner, notably fought alongside Russia's regular army in Ukraine.

Following the unsuccessful coup attempt, the Kremlin announced Prigozhin's exile to Belarus, with his fighters given the choice to retire, accompany him, or join the Russian military. This tragic incident marks a potential end to the tumultuous journey of a figure whose actions have sent shockwaves through Russia's political landscape.
