Moroccan King Thanks Israeli PM For “Just And Far-sighted" Decision On Sahara
Rabat, July 20 (TNA) Moroccan King, Mohammed VI, has sent a message of gratitude and appreciation to the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, Benyamin Netanyahu, following the "important" decision taken by the State of Israel to recognize the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its Sahara, as well as to consider favorably the opening of a Consulate in the city of Dakhla.
In his letter, he stressed that this decision is "both just and far-sighted" and recalled that the question of the Moroccan Sahara remains the "National Cause of the Kingdom" and constitutes the priority of the country's foreign policy. This recognition is another great victory for our country, and is seen as support for Morocco's authentic legal titles and unquestionable historical rights over its Saharan Provinces, reinforcing the age-old ties between the Kings of Morocco and the Moroccan populations of these territories.
King Mohammed VI considers that this decision is part of an international dynamic aimed at a definitive political solution to this regional dispute, in line with the Moroccan autonomy initiative for the Sahara region, while preserving the Kingdom's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The recognition of the Moroccan Sahara by several countries will also enable Morocco to play an even greater role as a facilitator of peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis for a two-state solution, given the consideration, respect and esteem in which Our August Sovereign is held by both parties.
Furthermore, the king welcomed the solid bilateral relations between Morocco and Israel since December 2020, characterized by exchanges of official visits, diversified cooperation and deep human ties, notably with the Jewish community of Moroccan origin.
