Moroccan Parliament Reviewing Its Relationship With The European Parliament
Rabat, January 24 (TNA) The Moroccan Parliament has announced that it will be reviewing its relationship with the European Parliament (EP) following recent positions taken by it towards Morocco. A statement condemning the EP's actions was read by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, at the end of a joint meeting with the Speaker of the House of Councillors, Enaam Mayara.
The statement said that the EP's actions have "seriously harmed the trust" between the two legislative bodies and have "undermined their decades-long strategic partnership." The Moroccan Parliament also decided to inform the European Parliament Presidency of the minutes from the session, including any decisions made.
The Moroccan Parliament also condemned the "insidious campaign" against the Kingdom, specifically referencing a resolution passed by the EP on January 19, 2023. It also expressed disappointment at the negative attitude and the non-constructive role played during the discussions in the European Parliament, by some political groups belonging to a country that is a historical partner of Morocco.
