Moroccan, Spanish And Portuguese FA Presidents Back 2030 World Cup Bid
Cidade do Futebol, October 19 (TNA) The presidents of the federations of Morocco, Portugal and Spain met in Lisbon on Wednesday morning as part of the joint bid to organise the 2030 World Cup. The leaders' summit was attended by Fernando Gomes (Portuguese Football Federation), Fouzi Lekjaa (Royal Moroccan Football Federation) and Pedro Rocha (Royal Spanish Football Federation) and provided an opportunity to continue preparing the bid, which unites two continents and aims to be the best ever for a World Cup.
It was the second time that the presidents of the three associations had met, but the first after FIFA's decision on the 2030 World Cup was known. At the meeting, held at Cidade do Futebol, the FPF's headquarters, it was decided to present the letter of intent to organise the World Cup on 28 October, thereby fulfilling one of the requirements of the bidding process.
This will be the first formal step towards a joint bid and will demonstrate the commitment of Morocco, Portugal and Spain to organising a successful World Cup. This solemn moment will take place in Rabat and will be followed by a press conference attended by the presidents of the three federations. At the same time, the 2030 World Cup bid committee continued its work and, also on Wednesday in Madrid, held another meeting to monitor the project.
