The Atlas Lions Await Clearance To Take Off From Rabat As Algeria ‘Mixes politics With Sports’
Rabat, January 13 (TNA) Morocco's national football team is currently at Rabat airport awaiting authorization from Algeria to travel to that country to participate in CHAN. The President of FIFA and that of CAF have just arrived at Rabat airport. Algiers, in its blind policy of hostility to the Kingdom, mixes politics and sport to prevent Morocco's national football team from taking part in this sporting event.
Indeed, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced on Thursday the cancellation of the participation of the Atlas Lions due to the closure of Algerian airspace to Moroccan planes. Subsequently, there were reversals to such an extent that on this Friday confusion reigned and it was up to who would best base his rumor.
This ban on overflight of Algerian territory does not allow the official carrier of the national selections, Royal Air Maroc, to make the Rabat/Constantine trip without prior flight authorization from the Algerian authorities.
However, for the time being everything remains possible and the flight scheduled to take off from Rabat-Salé at 11 a.m. local time is still awaiting authorization and the passengers (players, delegation, journalists, representatives, etc.) are ready to board as soon as flight confirmed by the granting of an authorization.
Until then, we will see whether or not the Atlas Lions will defend their last two consecutive titles
